Decimation X Review

Decimation X can best be described as a modern-day version of ‘Space Invaders’, with a lot more features available during game play, including up to 4 player co-operative.

Compared to ‘Space Invaders’, Decimation X is a lot more colourful, musical and fun – basically it’s like the original game on LSD. The addition of collectable icons that fall from defeated enemies is a brilliant way of making this game a lot more exciting. These icons improve your weapons, shields and can give you points. During the game you will also be able to work towards getting an icon shower – where a horizontal line of icons will fall from the top to the bottom of the screen, to help give you an extra boost. You can also earn extra lives during gameplay.

Multiplayer in the game is a lot of fun, although I must admit the downside to it is fighting over the icons as they fall! A great feature of the game is the fact that up to 3 extra players can join while a game is in progress by just pressing A. You get a local high score list, and it says that online scores are coming soon.

Overall, the game is a lot of fun, and is one of those games that you can pick up and play for a short amount of time over and over again. If you liked ‘Space Invaders’ – and let’s face it, who didn’t – it is pretty much a guarantee that you will love this.

You can pick Decimation X up on the Xbox Live Marketplace for 80 Microsoft Points, and for that price, you can’t really go wrong!
